Gear Review: Torches and Flashlights

I love flashlights. Spotlights, floodlights, and so much more. Here I go over some of my favorites and how I use them.

As I get more gear, this page will be updated.

Cefe (as I call it.. it is made by WDTPRO)

cefe2

This light is focusable. Spot to flood and it is super bright. It doesn't carry the standard 18650 battery, it has TWO

This is one of my main caving lights. It will see down a corridor or completely light up any cavern.

Pros

  • Bright... VERY BRIGHT!
  • Fairly light
  • Focusable - great distance on spotlight and excellent wide area lighting as well
  • Big battery pack - not only will the light last days, you can easily swap out batteries if needed. The flashlight acts as a charger, so you don't have to remove the batteries at all if you prefer.
  • Sturdy aluminum body
  • Digital battery percentage display.
  • Several brightness displays.

Cons

  • Even though it is fairly light, it is a little bulky for hiking. Great light for caving though.
  • Not a fan of the slide-zoom focusing. In my experience those eventually loosen and change too easily.

Warsun T9

WarSun T9

Amazing little pocket light. I used to have their T7 which is very similar - a little smaller. This light has a satisfies my gadget addiction completely.

I keep this with me every day. It has three brightnesses of spotlight, three levels of flood light, a UV light, and a laser pointer!

Thor! (this is so powerful!)

Lumintop's Thor line is amazing. It uses LEP technology (Laser excited phosphor) which makes it like a white laser. 2 miles away it shines a very tight circle of light. Not a lot of bleed either - just a small circle of white hot brightness.

It is very impressive, however I dont have a lot of uses for it.  It is crap for lighting up a room or even seeing something far away.

You could use it as a self-defence weapon - it would definitely hurt in the eyes. It may also be useful to signal ships at sea... it clearly has a very long reach.
